What Makes a Good WordCamp Speaker Topic?
Our audience consists of a wide variety of people including coders, bloggers, beginners, pros, CEOs, freelancers and everything in-between. We try to select speakers that interest and inspire the whole audience with real-life stories about the speakers’ experiences.
Speaker application outline
We want to encourage first-time speakers as well as welcome experienced speakers.
- If it’s your first time speaking in public let us know so we can help you prepare to deliver an awesome presentation!
- Slides play a significant role in the presentation. Be sure to include them in your talk.
Session format
- 20 minutes topic presentation and 10 minutes questions and answer session on the same.
- Speakers need to submit their session, presentation & deliverables and link details well in advance for the review purpose.
- Speakers are also volunteers. Everyone is treated equally at WordCamp, so speakers will receive the same treatment as others.
- Speakers are not paid to speak at WordCamp, nor is their session meant to promote their product or themselves. The aim is to share their knowledge, and that’s what we’re looking for.
- If you’re selling any WordPress-related products then they should be 100% GPL, in order to apply.
- We are going to record every session at WordCamp and they will be published online. By applying to speak, you agree that WordPress Foundation has the right and permission to use and publish such media — which may include your name, likeness, voice, city/state of residence, or photograph — for any purpose in any format, online (including, but not limited to, WordPress.tv and WordCamp.org) and/or offline, now and hereafter without further compensation, permission, or notification.
Deadline
- Call for Speakers closes at 23:59, 7th October 2019.
- If you’d like to propose multiple topics, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.
