Call for Volunteers

WordCamp Harare needs volunteers to help out during the event. WordCamp volunteers also get a free ticket! There are several roles available for WordCamp volunteers listed below:

Emcee

The mistress/master of ceremonies will be our host on stage for the day. A fun person who can keep the audience engaged between talks.

Time keeper

  • Ensure that talks start and end on time
  • Help speakers stay on track timewise
  • Show speakers the ‘remaining time’ cards during their session

Registration Desk

  • Welcome people to WordCamp Harare 2019
  • Mark as attended on the WordCamp Website
  • Help attendees purchase tickets if they had not already.
  • Troubleshoot issues that may arise. Experience with Paynow will be an advantage.
  • Must have a device to perform registrations on.
  • Set up the registration desk

Swag desk

  • Co-ordinate with registration desk to hand out IDs and swag
  • Setup swag table and keep it in good order

Media Support

  • Assist the photographer and videographer in setting up and moving equipment
  • Assist in the set up of microphones and speakers
  • make sure equipment handed over in good order at the end of the day

Speaker Wrangler

  • Ensure speakers are on time for their talk
  • Help speakers set up slides and direct slideshow if needed.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise

Social Media Wranglers

  • Upload quotes, photos and videos to social media during the event.
  • Send out tweets, and posts on the official WordCamp social media pages.
  • Draft and send out sponsor thank you messages.

Free Ticket Call For Students and Teachers

WordCamp Harare 2019 has received a request from a sponsor who would like to pay for underprivileged students and teachers to attend this year’s event. There are limited free tickets available so we will award tickets to the earliest deserving applicants.
